Osmo Seaweed Lime pellets are used to raise the pH of your soil.

It is used in lawns to prevent the growth of moss, as moss thrives in lower pH soils. In low pH soils, nutrients like P & K are less available to plants.

Sulphate of iron, although very good at killing moss, lowers the pH of soil, making it ideal conditions for the moss to re-appear. Because of this, when using sulphate of iron, you should always follow up for an application of lime to correct the pH.

It can be used on lawns, vegetable plots, fruit trees, etc. where required.

Description

Osmo Seaweed Lime pellets for lawns, allotments, vegetable plots etc. Spreading lime can aid with the following issues.

  1. Adjusts Soil pH: Lime is commonly used to raise the pH of acidic soils. Acidic soil with a low pH can hinder the growth of grass and other plants. By increasing the pH level, lime helps to neutralize acidity and create a more favorable environment for healthy lawn growth.
  2. Enhances Nutrient Availability: Lime helps to unlock nutrients in the soil, making them more available to the grass. When soil pH is too acidic, essential nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium become less accessible to the plants. Applying lime can help optimize nutrient uptake and promote healthier, greener lawns.
  3. Improves Soil Structure: Lime can help improve the structure of clay soils, which tend to be compacted and poorly drained. It aids in breaking up heavy clay particles, allowing for better water infiltration, root penetration, and overall soil aeration. This leads to healthier root development and improved lawn growth.
  4. Reduces Moss and Weeds: Moss tends to thrive in acidic soil conditions, and weeds often take advantage of weakened lawns. By raising the pH with lime, you create an environment that is less favorable for moss growth and helps discourage the growth of certain weeds. However, it’s important to note that lime alone may not entirely eliminate moss or weeds and may require additional lawn care practices.
  5. Enhances Microbial Activity: Lime can encourage beneficial microbial activity in the soil. These microorganisms play a crucial role in decomposing organic matter, cycling nutrients, and maintaining soil health. A balanced pH level facilitated by lime promotes a favorable environment for beneficial microbial activity.
